Kersia Bury is proud to share that we have successfully passed our recent ISO 45001 recertification audit, following a comprehensive two-day assessment of both our site operations and management systems. This achievement secures our certification for a further three years and reinforces our continued focus on protecting our people and maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.
What is ISO 45001?
ISO 45001 is the internationally recognised standard for Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems. It provides a structured framework for organisations to identify hazards, manage risks, and implement controls that help prevent workplace injuries and ill health.
More than just a compliance requirement, ISO 45001 promotes a proactive, continuous-improvement approach to health and safety. It ensures that businesses embed safe working practices into everyday operations, engage employees in safety culture, and demonstrate strong governance and accountability.
Why ISO 45001 Matters to Kersia
As part of the global Kersia group, delivering “farm to fork” hygiene solutions across the UK and Ireland, safety is fundamental to everything we do.
Operating as an Upper-tier COMAH site, Kersia Bury manufactures and manages chemicals, substances and processes that require the highest levels of control, governance and risk management. In this environment, robust health and safety systems are essential.
ISO 45001 supports this by ensuring that:
• Risks are systematically identified and controlled
• Clear processes and responsibilities are in place
• Continuous improvement is embedded across all activities
• Employees are actively engaged in safe working practices
This aligns closely with Kersia’s wider commitment to responsible operations, high standards of governance, and the protection of people, communities and the environment.
Ian Baurley, Kersia Bury Business Systems Manager, said:

I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all teams for their dedication, professionalism and focus on maintaining safe working environments. This recertification is not just a milestone to celebrate, but a clear reflection of our ongoing commitment to protecting our people and our plant.
We will continue to build on this success by improving our Health & Safety measures, strengthening awareness, and ensuring that safety remains at the heart of everything we do.”
