Kersia UK’s Octaklean Wins Dairy Day Award and Launches in Ireland

Kersia UK’s new Octaklean and Octacid One chlorine free detergent combination have scooped a 'Highly Commended' in the prestigious Dairy Day event new product competition.

When cleaning and disinfecting, the last rinsing phase is critical to ensure the reduction of residues that could remain in the milking parlour and the bulk milk tank. Chlorine, widely used for milking machine cleaning, can be a source of residues due to insufficient rinsing therefore the use of a chlorine-free cleaning program avoids the formation of these sub-products.

As such, our Octaklean and Octacid One detergent combination forms a cleaning program for the milking parlour and bulk milk tanks, that meets the chlorine-free requirements and provides significant added value including:

  • Environmental impact - no nitric or phosphoric acid, easy biodegradable substance

  • Alternative to chlorine and other substances such as EDTA, phosphoric acid and nitric acid

  • Safe regulatory status: EUROPEAN AUTHORISATION available for the disinfectant proposition

  • Innovative product: New solution using different active ingredients, without compromising the undeniable need for effectiveness and simplicity

Exhibiting for the first time the judges commented:

"The chlorine free formulation has significant environmental advantages and puts UK farmers ahead of the game, using experience of the regulations from Ireland. They presented the product very well with evidence-based case studies and farmer testimonials. What stood out was the consultative support they offer their customers, from an initial audit to identify weak points moving towards a bespoke recommendation for washing procedures to help standardise the workflow and help the farmer achieve their goals.”

The Kersia team also hosted a launch of the Octaklean range at a recent event located at the Horse & Jockey Hotel, Thurles, Co Tipperary.

The event was attended by milk cooperatives and independent Agricultural Merchants and the product range was well received with very good feedback from those who attended. They appreciated the information transfer, knowledge on product development and the recommended usage on farms for cleaning both milking machines and bulk milk tanks.
