Kersia's New Generation Express Foam Cleaner
Kersia’s latest generation alkaline foam detergent, Express Foam, is designed for use in open plant cleaning in food, dairy and beverage plants, and is critical to cleaning and disinfection programmes for a significant number of our customers. It’s a long cling foam detergent which provides extended contact time with soiling and is fast dispersing when rinsed. This reduces rinse time, delivers faster hygiene shift turnarounds and reduces overall water consumption*.
Designed as ‘P Free’, Express Foam provides an environmentally responsible approach to effluent discharge using replacements for phosphorus derived chemical scale control agents, as well as reduced potential for exceeding effluent discharge consents. It is part of Kersia’s drive to remove phosphonate scale control agents from formulations.
It is also ‘EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) Free’ as it includes glutamate chemistry with improved biodegradability and reduced health risk. Gram for gram, the new chemistry is 30% more efficient at binding calcium salts than EDTA, which means lower levels of inclusion in formulations and less transportation (chemical miles) of raw materials.
Finally, it also has improved emulsification, reducing the amount of manual scrubbing required, by using a synergic blend of flow foam surfactants to create a high level of emulsification across a wide HLB range (hydrophilic-lipophilic balance).
Steven Ackers, Investigational Research Manager from Kersia UK said:
Foam cleaning has been the method of choice for large scale cleaning for decades in food, beverage and dairy production plants. Our latest generation Express Foam cleaner, which we launched to great success, addresses the issues around long cling foam in that it is easy rinsing and is free flowing to prevent solid re-deposition. It also helps reduce water consumption because it reduces rinse time. In studies that we undertook, it took 5 minutes to rinse Express Foam from surfaces when compared to a traditional long cling foam, which took 18 minutes. The effectiveness of the product, combined with the reduction in energy usage means it now forms part of successful hygiene routines for many of our customers.
