Holchem’s Cath Chapman Is Heading To Kilimanjaro In Bid To Raise £6000 For Charity

Holchem’s Cath Chapman’s fundraising climb up Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania has been rescheduled and is now taking place in September 2022.

Cath and her husband will be joined by three others Rachel Righton, Claire Adams and Greg Hunn in their mini team and they will be part of larger group of 16 people as they take on the challenge to climb one of the world’s most difficult peaks to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK and Loros Hospice in Leicester. During the 19,340ft climb the team will have to endure the most extreme weather conditions and it’s a tough challenge both mentally and physically. It will take five days to reach the peak and the team will be climbing, camping outdoors, preparing their own food and battling with the changing altitude.

The trip has been postponed twice because of the COVID-19 pandemic but it has allowed the team to continue training so they can reach the required fitness levels. They have been practicing with various treks in the Yorkshire Dales and will be training in the run up to departing on 15th September.

The two charities they are fundraising for are close to the hearts of all the team and both provide a much-needed service across their communities. The team have already raised over £2,400 in pledges from the initial postponed trips and are now looking to increase the total to £6,000

The climb is definitely taking place this September.  After all the delays and changes to our schedule we can’t wait to get to Tanzania and start the climb to raise vital funds for Bowel Cancer UK and Loros Hospice. We have been training hard and will be well equipped to deal with the conditions out there.
